Join us in cycling to raise relief funds for Japan.
A few months ago some friends and I organized a hundred-mile bicycle ride through the wilds of Cleveland to raise a few bucks for the victims of the recent earthquakes and nuclear disaster. There are still over a hundred thousand homeless and languishing. The situation is truly horrific, as famine, disease, poverty, indigence, and destruction still reign in Tohoku. Despite tremendous efforts, the situation hasn’t dissipated or resolved just because it’s no longer front-page news. Actually, the news never reported how cataclysmic the destruction was, and is even now. So we're doing some more rides here in NJ/NY in case anybody wishes to contribute or ride along. We'll be cycling all June & July for Japan, riding whenever we have time, and getting everyone we can to contribute whatever they can afford comfortably.
So join us, and email everyone you know and plead for donations. Have them sponsor you by the mile. Or if you don't feel like riding, persuade them to make donations online to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund http://www.japansociety.org/earthquake.
Blitz everyone politely! Appeal to their nobility and compassion.... Many of our own friends have relatives suffering as we speak. We can't solve the world's problems, but we can siphon off just a smidgen of what we have to make a difference.
We are also planning a group ride on Saturday, July 9 to the Tappan Zee Bridge, then back into Central Park. (We could arrange a shorter ride that would convene in the park as well.) If anyone is interested in making this group ride happen, please email me at professorpiven@gmail.com. Hope you can procure a few donations, or even just ride along in support. Thanks everyone, Jerry Piven, Ph. D. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Supporters Flo on Wheels
